I’ve driven probably twenty cars in the last 3 weeks, walked away from 2 deals at the finance desk, and traded in the Jag yesterday. In an effort to fund the Morgan I took the keys to an ‘18 Accord. This is only temporary until the T aycan comes out but for now I’ll be living lavashily in a Honda with more creature comforts then the Jaaaag. You can ask me questions or you can bask in the comfort of ventilated seats quietly. The choice is yours. Also the Morgan sort of works but is mostly still broken.

wait what you can get vented seats in an accord now?
![]() 10/17/2018 at 18:27 |

What engine and transmission did you get?
![]() 10/17/2018 at 18:29 |

Heated and ventilated in the front, heated in the rear, Adaptive cruise control that is smoother than my mazda, and a HUD color me surprised I was not expecting to ever get an accord.

Went ultra boring with the 1.5 Auto touring. Im serious when I say the morgan has made everything else a simple mode of transportation.
![]() 10/17/2018 at 18:41 |

Wow. That’s impressive.
I must have missed it, what happened to the Morgan?
![]() 10/17/2018 at 18:45 |

I think it is the fuel pump, but I do know it will be expensive.
![]() 10/17/2018 at 18:49 |

The Touring package is pretty sweet

Hmmm.. going from a Jag F-type
to an Accord 1.5L
to a Taycan...
I have to believe this fries the brain of someone in automotive marketing somewhere...

I love it, but tho se wheels...

Seems like a clever take on the basic transportation front. Most likely nicer than a Camry with the same resale and reliability.
Would you recommend one to a gearhead looking for a daily driver, or is it really more for people who just want a commuter pod
?
![]() 10/17/2018 at 18:53 |

nice - I really like those, one of the best looking Hondas in a while I think . (I spec out a 2.0 Sport with the manual on their website every couple of months...)

I refuse to make sense of this world!
![]() 10/17/2018 at 18:56 |

But those cooled seats though!
![]() 10/17/2018 at 18:57 |

Your know, I'd have to go drive the manual 2.0T to give you a reasonable answer. I do know I liked it more than a C class and XE.

Now all you need to do is (eventually) convert the Taycan to gasoline power using the powertrain out of a Dodge Viper and also convert the Morgan to FWD
electric power using the powertrain bits fro
m the Taycan.

Sweet ride. We recently bought a slightly more portly 18 Honda. Do love the honda safety/tech stuff.
![]() 10/17/2018 at 19:26 |

Sweet! Just curious if you sold the F-Type - how much did you get for it (ballpark)? In case if you're not comfortable sharing figures, that's fine.
![]() 10/17/2018 at 19:28 |

Trade in and let me tell you, jags depreciate like you've read about.
![]() 10/17/2018 at 19:30 |

Yes I like it more than Mazda's tech.

Hey are we married?
![]() 10/17/2018 at 19:35 |

I really wanna talk shit, but I can’t because you own a Morgan and your plan is gearhead logical . Plus I actually like the looks of the Accord.
![]() 10/17/2018 at 19:38 |

I think the new Accord is a beauty, it looks like a proper luxury sedan in higher trims...though just like the Fusion, the lesser equipped models do not. It’s weird.
![]() 10/17/2018 at 20:04 |
|
Poop talking is encouraged! Like, are you a fool its the tiny engine! An auto with CVT, are you on drugs? Why do you like adaptive cruise control!

Only if you signed the prenup!
![]() 10/17/2018 at 20:30 |

It has such a primitive look that it’s hard to think of its mechanical bits as being expensive (though the rest of it obviously is). Looking at the specs, I guess they decided against using a higher production volume engine for whatever reason.

I can’t wrap my head around the fact that
you traded one of prettiest relatively
-attainable 2-doors
of the last decade in on a unibrowed Edsel-inspired robotic
middle finger to aesthetics and taste. It’s like the designer(s) of the crosstour and zdx are pissed that folks didn’t f
lock to the vehicular visual affront they manifested onto the world years ago and took their revenge by making all the following
honda cars ape that same overall shape, but with even
less practically.

Ew.
Reminds me of a printer test page where none of the print heads are aligned.

You can get cooled seats in a Hyundai, Kia, Ford, Lincoln... The list goes on.

Eh, you got rid of a fun vehicle to maintain a vehicle that is fun and gives you a special feeling. I see nothing wrong with that. I would drive the most boring ass car they made if it meant owning and being able to maintain something as special as a Morgan. Props to you for making the correct choice.
![]() 10/17/2018 at 22:11 |

Because Selling the jag keep the Morgan and you will never have more fun in the jag then you will driving a Morgan it's that simple.

Oh these cars will make us all poor. Together!
![]() 10/17/2018 at 23:15 |

How the hell are Morgans so unreliable? There’s exactly jack-shit to them. It’s a motorcycle engine stuffed in a tube frame with one less wheel that a car and one more than your average motorcycle. How did they mess that up?
![]() 10/17/2018 at 23:15 |
|
love how the luxury features are trickling down to midsize and even economy cars
luxury cars, you just end up paying for higher quality materials and better performance at the cost of... wallet and reliability usually

Okay I’ll give you a brief summary of things that break. The SS engine cam belt eats itself apart, though this has been fixed with spacers to cool the belt and allow airflow. The bevel box can run out of fluid and then break. The compensator they took from a boat will rip itself apart if you think about it too much. The frames like to break at various welds because maybe someone who welded it was having a bad day. The drive belt likes to eat the rear sprockets because they are made of god knows what, though they did switch to stainless steel recently. Sometimes the exhaust falls off, you know as these things do. The fuel pump’s are known to break, and most drivers carry a spare so they can do a roadside swap out of a a fuel pump like a normal car. The gas gauge never has worked, in fact none of them work. I don’t know why they still include it at all. Oh also the headlight reflector fell off on the inside of the light when I was driving once, because I was probably using my high beams and LASERS! Any more questions? Actually I’m going to just make a new post about this.

Yeah and I mean Mercedes doesn’t even offer the right beige for a beige mobile. What is the point of it all then?
![]() 10/18/2018 at 00:06 |
|
But I mean, this is basically a baby NSX. Check out those headlights!
Any more questions on my 2018 NSX Accord!
![]() 10/18/2018 at 00:07 |

I would have given you my Fiesta ST and Kia forte for one week in that Jag.
![]() 10/18/2018 at 00:09 |

Hey I got this new 1.5L Accord though and as I pointed out early it is actually an NSX so just something to think about.
![]() 10/18/2018 at 00:10 |

I looked at the Accord when we were looking for a DD for my wife. Nice cars! I think you made a logical choice, but I can’t support trading in orange for grey.
![]() 10/18/2018 at 00:14 |
|
BEIGE! I made them move cars out of the showroom for this because I will commit to a joke, and if I ’m buying a beige mobile it better be freaking beige. I laugh every time I think about it.

Hopefully you'll have better luck than I have with my 2018 Accord. It has been the least reliable car I've ever had and I've had three Jaguars. To make matters worse, Honda will not stand behind their product. Getting them to admit there is a problem is like pulling teeth, and they will try to tell you everything is normal. My turbo already had to be replaced and my oil level keeps rising about an inch over full. What a POS!

Hey. I resemble that remark. (A diehard Honda CT owner and maven).
![]() 10/18/2018 at 06:57 |

I’m sure the actual color is D esert M ist or Fresh Un- ripened Pumpkin. Don’t call it beige! How dare you! :)
![]() 10/18/2018 at 07:05 |

For the Accord not really... I mean they basically just slap an Acura badge ( and a letter with two or three numbers for the model) onto Hondas when they export them from Japan. Inside Japan it’s a Honda with a really fancy m odel name for the higher trim models. So in Japan Honda makes “luxury sedans. ”

the automotive equivalent of what I call ePeen for computer enthusiasts

Sounds like a JZR is the way to go
Morgan 3-wheeler clone using a 50hp Honda CX500 engine. Watercooled, shaft drive, 4 valves per cylinder, dead reliable.

It's called champagne frost, which is also my stage name.
![]() 10/18/2018 at 09:48 |

The new Accord Sport is actually a really nice car. But then I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know.
![]() 10/18/2018 at 10:45 |

Finally a new car owned by an Oppo that is even more unreliable than my four misfits.
But I imagine that for the brief moments the Morgan is working the car makes you feel all fizzy inside.
![]() 10/18/2018 at 10:45 |

You had me sold at “clone” and “shaft drive”. :D
![]() 10/18/2018 at 10:54 |

WOW, I had no idea that Morgan was taking it’s vintage build quality THAT seriously... to include so much of the trouble in with all that heritage....
makes dealing with wrong-wheel-drive seem worth it to get a Vanderhall Venice or Speedster instead.
Or perhaps the Edison Electric when it comes out.
![]() 10/18/2018 at 10:57 |

Cashing out resale value to save (and potentially re-grow a bit to offset some of the Jag’s depreciation) for a Taycan...
I can kind of see it, if he was not pleased with issues on the Jag...
But I do agree that the F-type is such a gorgeous car. Sad that an Accord for probably half the price can beat it on amenities.

I always wanted to see a Morgan replica/alternative with a longer hood... over the top of a Triumph Rocket III engine. The gearbox is unitized on the left side of the engine, built for shaft-drive to the rear wheel, would just need a reversing gear box.
A hood shell over the top, bare sides, and ‘ 32 F ord Hot Rod style front suspension and grille, right side side pipe exhaust, with a single seat cockpit , and the faired-over single rear wheel. (no way my 6'2" midwest corn-fed stature is going to fit in a car that small with two seats, maybe not even with a single seat. )
![]() 10/18/2018 at 13:17 |

Yeah but the high-beams are incandescent s on the 1.5T. I know its easily replaced with other bulbs or LEDs. Even so it first thing I noticed driving one at night . But that w as a year and half ago so they might have fixed it but still seemed like a cheap corner to cut.

I understand THAT rationale, but going to an accord when the Mazda6, MKZ, used Continental, and Volvos aplenty are available...

NSX doesn’t have the unibrow, but is the [much] older design...
...honda is regressing.

But but but I drove them and this one drove the best at the price point I wanted with all the features I like. Yes I like V90R and continental more, but not the cost.
![]() 10/18/2018 at 14:44 |

At least we can all agree on me driving an NSX.
![]() 10/18/2018 at 14:45 |

from what I’ve heard the speed is on par with a 90s Civic. Won’t set the world on fire but it’ll keep up with traffic alright.
